The 2007 American Silver Eagle in ANACS SP69
from the Annual Uncirculated Dollar Set made at the West Point Mint
To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the American Silver Eagle, first minted in 1986, US Mint released the first ever Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. The US Mint had been using the term Uncirculated indicating that the coin had never been in circulation, but in 2006 they used the term to describe a special process where they used a planchet that had been burnished with media before the coin was struck, resulting in a satin type finish. Numismatist didn't like the new use of the term as is caused confusion, and instead latched onto the term burnished.
ANACS, the oldest independent grading company agreed that the term Uncirculated was confusing and decided instead to call the finish special or SP.
This coin is the 2007 version of he Uncirculated/Burnished or Special American Silver Eagle, ANACS SP69. It came form the Annual Uncirculated Dollar Set which included the four presidential dollars and the Sacagawea dollar too.
This is your chance to own this unique coin!
