This Kennedy half dollar from the 2021 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set is a unique coin.  It is 99.9% fine silver.  The Kennedy half dollars feature the original 1964 obverse (heads) design with the image of President John F. Kennedy. The design inscriptions on the obverse are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2021.” The reverse (tails) design is based on the Presidential Coat of Arms. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “HALF DOLLAR.”

This Kennedy Half Dollar comes from the 2021 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.  These sets have a limited mintage of only 50,000 sets.  The coin comes in the original government packaging, an airtite capsule to protect the coin.

Proof coins are coins that the US Mint makes differently than standard circulating coins used for change.  Proof coins are manufactured by striking the coin numerous times under increased pressure to make the field (flat portion of the coin) have a mirrored finish.  Proof coins are specifically made for collectors since they have better eye appeal than standard circulating coins.
