This is the new Eagle Landing design Proof Silver Eagle coin.  The US Mint released it first design change to the Silver Eagle since 1986.  The US Mint released West Point minted proof coins with the old design earlier this year.  These new design coins have been called Type 2 by many collectors.  2021 is the first year the New Eagle Landing reverse design has been used on silver eagle coin.  The design includes a truer representation of Adolph A. Weinman's Liberty in full stride, the artists mark on the obverse, and an anti-counterfeit reeded edge variation.

This coin comes in the original government packaging (OGP) and includes the box and certificate of authenticity.  The mintage by the US Mint is limited at 300,000.  The coins were minted at the West Point Mint facility and include the W mark on the reverse.

The design on the coin's obverse was taken from the Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman, which originally had been used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin of the United States from 1916 to 1947. The obverse is inscribed with the year of minting or issuance, the word “LIBERTY”, and the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

The new Type 2 reverse was designed by Emily Damtra and features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."
