Mintage only 25,000 The 2022 West Point Mint Proof Purple Heart Colorized Silver Dollar is only the third colorized coin made by the US Mint. The coin is 99.9% silver and the heart on the obverse of the coin is colorized purple. The US Mint changed their process this year allowing customers to “enroll” early for coins and this coin sold out within minutes of release. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor’s mission is to commemorate the service and sacrifice of men and women who were killed or wounded in action, representing Purple Heart recipients from the Civil War to the present day. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in enemy action. The National Purple Heart Honor Mission is dedicated to paying tribute to our nation's combat wounded through special outreach and educational programming. Obverse: This design features the Purple Heart medal with purple shading around the bust of George Washington.
